Tiny Acorns are Fall+tastic

The beginning of my project is so clean.
I have an Embellishment Stamp set that III and I designed together.  I used to use it all the time, but I just hadn't in a while.  It's so fun discovering it all over again.  I'm so in love with the tiny acorns in it.  Using it every day makes me want to keep on using it every day.  It's a crafty cycle.

I wanted to capture the vivid fall colors that one thinks of with autumn.  I pulled out my Distress minis that were in the fall color range and lined them up in an order that made sense to me.  My plan was to make a pattern of color with them.

I took some Finch Bright White paper that I swiped from the shop.   Joe'll never know--he went fishing today.  I love this paper, but it seemed a bit white for fall.  I grabbed Squeezed Lemonade Stain and smeared it all over the card.  I had some red streaks in it.  Who knows what I used it for last time? I dried it completely.   That was still too bright for me so I went over the paper with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink which toned it down nicely. I dried that, too
Stamping Tiny Acorns

I began stamping the Tiny Acorns with the first color.  I'll list all the colors used at the bottom.  I just stamped a tiny bit on the card.  I moved to the next color without wiping of the stamp.  I stamped just a wee bit more this time.  Continuing along my inks, I staggered my acorn pattern.  I wasn't exactly sure where I was going, but I just kept going.   It seemed like a thing.

The color was a little bright still so I rummaged around in my sprays.  I pulled out a Tattered Angels goldish orange one, held it above my card panel about 10 inches and sprayed!  It was fantastic!
With Squeezed Lemonade and without.
I dried the whole thing and added in some dots with a gold pen.  Love the dots....

I spent a long time perusing my papers.  I finally choose a green Bazzil card stock.  I liked it except for the whole it was too bright thing.    I slid the green paper into a woodgrain Paper Studio embossing folder.  After I embossed it with my Big Shot, I grabbed the Brushed Corduroy Ink and rubbed the whole ink pad over the green paper.  Then for good measure, I sprayed that paper with the Tattered Angels spray.

Putting it all together.
I stole a small piece from the darker card for my sentiment.  Paper Smooches Scripty Sayings is one of my all time favs and it fit perfectly.  I had to use it!  I embossed it with Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder. It didn't pop as much as I liked so I went around the sentiment with a white gel pen.

I put foam tape under the acorns and Ranger Collage glue under the sentient.  It felt pretty heavy.  Considering the groove in the wood grain paper and the heft of the card panel I used This to That Tape by American Crafts to make sure it wouldn't come off.  This skinny red tap is hard core!

I really enjoyed making this card.  It has all the things that I love about mixed media:  color, texture, interest, shine.  I'm a contented card maker when all of that happens.
Tiny Acorn Love

The after mess.
I would like to encourage you to make an art mess today.  Start with  a stamp you love and see where it takes you.  My Tiny Acorn would love to help. And by all means, get spray crazy.

Blessings,

Carolyn
