My mother is wonderful. She is so accepting, wise, and surprisingly funny. Spending time with her is sweet, and fortunately she lives near me so we see each other often. And since Mother's Day is fast approaching I had to make her a special card. Making a card has been on the back burner while I settled on the direction I wanted to go. And then I saw the Paper Artsy Kraft paper challenge and found my inspiration in Wanda Hentges card. To check that out click here.

I created a process video for you . Please click!
I pulled a sheet of Tim Holtz' Glassine paper from the pad and trimmed it to 4 x 5 1/4. I wadded it up creating lovely wrinkles. (How often do you here that? I sure don't want people telling me that!) Then I smoothed it out and put it aside. I cut a piece of Neenah Kraft paper slightly smaller than that and tore off one edge. Using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and Tim Holtz's Curiousities stamps, I created a background.
My Doodle Blossoms stamp set was begging to come out and play so I gave them a third of the background because they deserve it! Then I colored them with a white colored pencil because dang it looks good when you use white on kraft!
|kraft paper + white colored pencils = smooch|
I always have tons of mono prints because I love my gelli plate. These prints are great to add Wow to any project. I chose apink and orange mono print for the butterfly. Using Stampendous' Butterfly and Die Cut set, I had a cool butterfly in a jiffy.
I stuck it to the background with foam tape. I found the phrase "Learning To Fly" in Tim Holtz' clipping stickers and realized that's just what my momma did. She taught me to fly. After sticking it onto the card, I outlined the sticker in a fine black line. Gel Medium paste would guarantee that everything would stick to my card so I used it for insurance.
Now I have time to think about what I want to say inside, because she'll like that best.
Remember to hug your momma when you get a chance!
P.S. To my anonymous friend(s), I've not figured out how to respond to you without an email address so here you go. I've asked a few friends and they don't have trouble with the pictures downloading. Blogger is easy to use and is full of widgets. Thanks for your kind words.
Materials: Materials either come from my small Etsy shop Pink Bunkadoo or Amazon because I live in the sticks. Amazon uses affiliate links which are no cost for you and so far no earnings for me.
